This strip represents some of Stuttgart's more recent success other than their Bundesliga title in 06-07 which remains the clubs most recent triumph. The 96-97 season would see the club win the DFB-Pokal Champions (Domestic cup) beating FC Energie Cottbus 2-0. The club would finish 4th in the league and earn a place the following season in a European competition called the Cup Winners Cup which at the time was ranked above the UEFA Cup (Europa league)
