Between 2000-2002 Mido became a rising star in europe. In the 2001-02 season he won the double in the Eredivisie alongside notable teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic. 00-01 he was voted Young Egyptian footballer of the year and in 01-02 was awarded the young African player of the year.
